Spatial Audio refers to the use of Head-Related Transfer Function (HRTF) processing or other object-based mixing techniques that simulates how sounds from different directions are affected by the human ears and body.
It is a subfield of 3D audio, which also encompasses traditional channel-based audio techniques using e.g. 7.1 to represent sounds coming from around the listener.
